The First Thanksgiving

The First Thanksgiving

Long ago, a group of people called the Pilgrims travelled from Holland on a ship called the Mayflower. The ship sailed across the ocean.

For awhile the trip was nice and smooth, but all of the sudden a terrible storm came up. The ship tossed back and forth for days. Then as suddenly as it had begun it stopped. The Pilgrims we're thankful to God. So they kept on sailing.

Finally, they saw land. They rejoiced happily.

Then the captain came up to them. "This is Cape Cod", he said. Later, a group of men went off exploring for a place to live.

A few weeks later, they returned! They had found a good place! Soon, they started off toward their new home! Soon they had built a town. They called it Plymouth.

One day, an Indian walked into Plymouth. His name was Samoset. Another day he brought Squanto. Squanto taught the Pilgrims how to plant corn. The harvest God gave them was so plentiful that the Pilgrims decided to have a holiday of Thanksgiving. This feast lasted for 3 days!

The end.
